2021 Makajawan Week 5 (2021)
Week 5 at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation in the Northwoods of Wisconsin was exciting and eventful. This year was the second anniversary of the camp being impaired by a microburst storm, closing it for two years. Merit badge classes were offered throughout the week, which went from 9 am to 5 pm, and also included the Trail Blazers class for new Scouts. The Trail Blazers class either lasted through the morning or the afternoon where they learned crucial skills. The Silver Arrow Archery Competition also lasted throughout the week, in which the winner received a prize in the form of a silver arrow. The Baden Powell Award also took place during Week five. The Baden Powell Award, which rewarded Scouts who kept their campsites clean and participated in camp-wide activities, was awarded to all of the troops who participated in the event that week. Troop 64 has earned the Baden Powell Award every time they have gone to Makajwan for the past 60+ years. The Troop also participated in a camp-wide game of Capture the Flag. The War Canoe Race took place over the week. The canoe race was a competition across Lake Killian in giant war canoes. The whole week was amazing. On the last night of camp, the two camps came together for a giant fire, where Harrison K. and Daniel G. were selected to be a part of the Order of the Arrow.
